FieldPilot Automated Steering Increases Productivity and Precision

Wheaton, IL, USA, 17 April 2006 – An enhanced version of FieldPilot™ from Midwest Technologies is now available. With FieldPilot automatic steering, operators can significantly boost productivity and efficiency without compromising accuracy. FieldPilot enables more ground to be covered in less time since higher travel speeds are possible than with manual steering. In addition, FieldPilot enables an extended workday by eliminating visibility problems and minimizing operator fatigue.

Improved precision is another benefit of FieldPilot. Rows are uniformly aligned ensuring every inch of field is farmed and yield is maximized. FieldPilot also eliminates guess rows/overlap and the problems associated with over/under application of chemicals. Row variances are also eliminated, minimizing crop damage during cultivation and harvest.

Operators can focus exclusively on field operations such as spraying, planting or fertilizing. “Many FieldPilot users report major reductions in fatigue,” commented Rich Gould, Product Manager for Mid-Tech. “They also report doing a better job on the application tasks once relieved of the responsibility of driving,” added Gould.

Legacy® 6000 is the user interface for FieldPilot and for other product application and mapping capabilities from Mid-Tech. A single console operates FieldPilot, application rate controls and other precision farming tasks. “Operators often start with Legacy 6000 and FieldPilot. Then they add other modules as needed,” Gould commented. “It is an affordable and simple approach to precision farming. Operators learn a single device, there’s just one console in the cab and there are no issues with component integration,” he continued.

FieldPilot can be installed easily in tractors and self-propelled application rigs in just a few hours.
